Conversation overheard by 2,000 moderated by Professor McKay Jenkins
McKay Jenkins and Bill Nye

Selfies may not be the best quality, but when you're spending the evening with Bill Nye the Science Guy, you take 'em anyway.

Dr. McKay Jenkins, the Cornelius Tilghman Professor of English and a leader in environmental journalism, moderated the conversation when Bill Nye spoke at the Bob Carpenter Center March 21, 2016.

At one point, according to a News Journal story, Jenkins asked Nye what he thought of anti-journalist push from the Trump administration.

"You can hate me," he said. (And with that someone in the crowd shouted out: "We love you.") "You can hate puppies ... But you do not want a country without a press."

Later, Jenkins described how he sent his students out into White Clay Creek State Park to observe nature.

Nye took it from there.

"When you go exploring, you will make discoveries," he said. "You will have an adventure."
