Doing journalism starts now

UD students start connecting with audiences as soon as possible. Take a stroll through our growing collection of journalism that makes a difference.

Tiptoeing through the tulips - with a notebook
Ellie Delany covered the 2017 Philadelphia Flower Show, where an interdisciplinary team of UD students took home a silver prize in the education category. Delany's work appeared in several outlets, including The Review, Delaware Today and PHL17. Some of her favorite flowers, by the way, were the tulips - 30,000 of them at the entrance alone.

Spotlighting students who fill a food bank
Sarah Gibson freelanced for the Newark Post during her time as an undergraduate. One of her articles reported on "Blue Hen Bounty," a food closet run by the Episcopal Campus Ministry, a student group based in the St. Thomas Episcopal Parish on South College Avenue. The project provides food and toiletries to students in need. Her experience with the Newark Post provided necessary real-world experience to supplement her journalism classes.

Behind the scenes at 'The Nutcracker'
You think "The Nutcracker" just magically appears every year around Christmas, on stage and on cue? Nope. Rehearsals start in September, reporter Allison Hageman found out, leaving only 10 weeks to get the magic right. Hageman's story appeared in Delaware Today and The Review.
