WELCOME TO THE

JOURNALISM MINOR

The interdisciplinary journalism minor emphasizes the fundamentals of information gathering, writing, and producing news stories across various media platforms, from print to broadcast. Students gain the skills needed for the field while exploring the foundation of news literacy and experiential learning while complimenting the skills needed for other careers. Graduates with a journalism minor go on to work at newspapers, local and national television stations, radio stations, production companies, magazines, jobs in politics, and more.

The minor is open to all students, regardless of their major, from across all colleges. Coursework requires 18 credits - 9 hours of required courses and 9 hours of electives - and must include at least two courses outside a student’s major field.
